By the time you read this sentence, that data is on a server you'll never audit, in a jurisdiction you didn't choose, and there is nothing you can do to recall it.

Your employee didn't steal anything. They just pasted your company's financial strategy into a system that remembers everything, tells you nothing, and belongs to someone else. That's not a metaphor — that's the technical reality of consumer AI tools processing enterprise financial data.

Calling It "Pasting" Is the Problem

"Pasting financials into ChatGPT" sounds casual. Rename it accurately: an unlogged data transfer to a US-governed AI system, with no recall mechanism, no Data Processing Agreement, and no audit trail that either party will ever be able to produce.
